Hello and Happy December!
We have been very busy preparing for Christmas and have many more great activities coming up.
Last week we celebrated our annual Advent Mass at the school with Monsignor Marco. We have been talking about all of the Christmas preparations we make in our homes (decorating, cooking, visiting), and how going to church is one way that we can prepare our hearts to welcome Baby Jesus. It was wonderful to see our children participating in the mass and hear them singing the songs we prepared as a school.
Christmas Cheer-last day for donations-December 18
We continue to ask families for donations of gift cards for our annual Christmas Cheer program that helps out families within our school community. Gift cards from grocery stores, Walmart, local restaurants and theatres are welcomed. Thank you to those families who have already sent in donations. Let’s try to help everyone enjoy a good Christmas.
As you may have noticed, there have been many recent bouts of illness throughout the school. We have been working diligently to have the children wash their hands frequently and catch their sneezes and coughs in their elbow (not covering their mouths with their hands when they sneeze or cough). We would appreciate it if you could continue encouraging these same practices at home for the good of everyone’s health! If your child has had a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, we would encourage you to keep them home for 24 hours after it has passed (as stated by the Simcoe County District Health Unit) . Nobody wants to be sick over Christmas holidays! Thank you!
Just a reminder to help your child remember to return their library books to school every week. We visit the library for story and book exchange on Fridays. If your child has more than one overdue library book, they will not be allowed to borrow another until they are returned.
Christmas Concert-Wednesday, December 19
Our SCD Christmas Concert will be on Wednesday, December 19th at 1:15pm in the gym. Dress rehearsal will be in the morning and the family performance will be in the afternoon. Our kindergarten classes have been busy preparing two new songs this year for your listening pleasure! We would appreciate it if the children could be dressed in dark bottoms and festive coloured topson that day if possible. Family members are welcome to attend.
Kindergarten Pyjama Day-Thursday, December 20
Hooray! PJ Day! We’re going to save you some time in the morning-kids don’t have to get dressed for school on Thursday, December 20th.
