As you know, the weather is changing, and jacket season is upon us. Children need to practice how to pull their sleeves right-side out first and then put their coat on independently. We will use up all of our outdoor time if we have to dress them all individually! Here’s a great way to teach your child to put on their own coat.
–Backpacks-if you notice that your child’s backpack is loaded and difficult to zip, the backpack is likely too small. Children find packing their bags very frustrating if things don’t fit.
–Library-our library day is Wednesday. The children are welcome to keep their books at home for the week and return them every Wednesday.
–Zip Bags-please return your child’s zip bag (the one with the duct taped seams) to school with them every day. We use these to send home any paperwork from the office or creations from your child.
–Terry Fox Run-our class will be participating in a fun Terry Fox exercise activity in our yard tomorrow morning. We are going to Try Like Terry! If possible, please send your child dressed in red and white to celebrate this Canadian hero. Thank you to all of the families who have sent in online donations-our school has far surpassed our goal of $2000-WOW!
–Truth and Reconciliation Day-our school will honour this day (Thursday) by wearing orange shirts (if you have them), sharing stories and a school prayer service. We have been reading stories by indigenous authors this week and talking about how we need to take care of all people.
–One last suggestion-if you haven’t done so already, the beginning of school is a great time to have your child’s vision and hearing checked.
